Welcome to my Studio!
Thank you for being a part of my studio! My entire goal as a teacher and coach is to help my students discover themselves and their strengths. From first-time beginners to seasoned performers, everyone will always have a place in my studio <3
Meet Alyssa!
Hi friends! I have had many musical adventures and they all started with the love and support of my family. I sang all throughout my growing-up years, but didn't get really serious about anything until I was in high school. As a young, budding high schooler, I competed in Solo and Ensemble and NATS as well as performed with the chamber choir, women's choir, and acapella group at our local choir concerts as well as Honor Choir. That's also when I discovered the wonderful world of musical theatre.
All throughout high school, until my senior year, I hung around in the background of the ensemble and was happy to just be on stage. During my final year as a high school student, I had a wonderful director who took a chance on me and gave me the role of a lifetime: I was cast as Christine Daae in our high school's production of Phantom of the Opera. This opened the door for me and my music career.
Post high school graduation, I was contacted by a band and choral group called The Sound of America. They introduced themselves to me as a touring group who wanted me to sing in their choir, and they were getting ready to tour through Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, and Luxembourg. With tremendous support from my family, fresh out of high school I went on an international tour as a singer and dancer.
Upon my return from my international travels I received a music scholarship to go to Westminster College in Salt Lake, and off I went! Throughout college I spent many hours singing opera and classical music, musical theatre, jazz, choral works, and acapella music. I gained an extensive knowledge of vocal pedagogy, music history, music theory, aural skills, composing, conducting, and piano as well. All of this led to the beginnings of my professional career as both a performer and an instructor/coach.
I was lucky enough to return to France with the college's chamber choir and we started in Paris and sang all through the French countryside as we made our way down to Nice. I sang with Ballet West at Capitol theatre, with the Utah Symphony in Abravanel Hall, with the chamber choir once again but in New York at Carnegie Hall, and many other wonderful and amazing adventures.
Upon graduation I had kind of decided I didn't really want to pursue a professional performing career anymore and I actually quit music completely for a handful of years. During that time, I worked at a law firm, I dispatched helicopters, and just worked outside of the music industry.
Eventually, I moved back home to the Basin, started teaching once again, and the rest is history. My students are truly my pride and joy and if you made it this far into my massively long autobiography congratulations and I'll buy you dinner lol.
Thank you so much to everyone I've ever worked with who trusted me as an instructor, believed in me, supported me, and mentored me.
